If you are planning a trip to Cinque Terre, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, or simply want to get inspired for your next vacation, you cannot miss this tour of the Italian provinces of Piedmont and Liguria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Turin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is one of the great misunderstood people of the country. Turin does not have the tourist numbers that Rome, Venice or Florence have. However, it was one of the most impressive surprises of our route. One of the most beautiful cities in northern Italy. Turin is small enough to explore its streets comfortably on foot, and discover an unknown paradise.<\/p>\n\n\n

2. Genoa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An essential stop on the trip through Liguria. Although the best known thing about the Italian city is its famous Romanesque cathedral. The cathedral can be visited and you can also climb the Tower to a terrace that gives us a spectacular view of the city; but Genoa goes much further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our visit we discovered the port, the lighthouse, the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, and above all, its gourmet shops, where you can buy authentic Genoese pesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Rapallo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In our case, we chose Rapallo as the base for the trip through the Cinque Terre. Our intention was to do the entire route on foot, getting to know the paths that connect these famous Italian towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rapallo, in addition to serving as a travel base, allowed us to discover a unique and charming place. Be sure to visit its small castle, located on the seashore, its promenade reminiscent of the French Riviera, or the sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Montallegro, which is an ideal visit for those who want to do a little physical activity. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Monterosso al Mare<\/h2>\n\n\n

Our route through the Cinque Terre began in Monterosso, where we arrived by train. We left very early to start the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We approached the town, we walked through its streets still asleep due to how early it was, and after delighting in the idyllic landscape that can be seen from its beach, where the fishermen leave their traditional boats placed, we prepared to begin the trekking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a quick coffee, and with the help of the website https:\/\/www.cinqueterrehike.com\/es\/sendero-azul-vernazza-monterosso where all the trails available in Cinque Terre are shown, and the state in which they are located in the At the time of the visit, we begin our journey to get from Monterosso to Vernazza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must remember that the path is demanding, and to do the route you must be in good physical condition, although the path is well marked and easy to follow. At the beginning of the route we find a staircase with more than five hundred steps, If you read correctly, five hundred! That is why we recommend not doing this route if you are not in acceptable physical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And although the beginning was hard, we have to admit that the views are absolutely incredible, and that every meter was worth traveling. It took us an hour and a half, more or less, and shortly before reaching our destination, Vernazza, we found one of the best points from which to obtain a beautiful panoramic view of Vernazza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Vernazza<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Already in Vernazza, and tired from the effort, we stopped at a picturesque cafe, and after regaining our strength, we dedicated ourselves to visiting the narrow and steep streets of the famous town. We have to say that it is one of the most beautiful towns in the entire Cinque Terre, and even if you don't walk, you can stop by train, or arrive by car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And after a good while exploring the place, we headed towards Corniglia, our next stop on the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Corniglia<\/h2>\n\n\n

We found the path between Vernazza and Corniglia easier than the previous one, but equally demanding, so we recommend that you evaluate your strength before embarking on the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as we begin the route, and after a steep climb, we find a beautiful viewpoint where we can take photos and get a panoramic view of the town of Vernazza, a unique place, without a doubt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And after an hour and a half, more or less as in the previous case, we began to glimpse the shape of Corniglia. Corniglia is a picturesque town, and although it is sometimes excluded from routes through the Cinque Terre because it does not have direct access to the sea, our recommendation is that you visit it, it is incredible. Just the visit to the Oratorio del Disciplinati di Santa Caterina is worth it, not to mention its gastronomy, which we were able to enjoy, since taking advantage of the fact that it was lunch time, we stopped at a local restaurant, with a terrace, and ate with some stunning sea views.<\/p>\n\n\n

7. Manarola<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the next day, we had Manarola and Riomaggiore. Although, we also changed hotels, since Rapallo was already quite far away for the day's plans; so we got up early, had breakfast, and left from the Rapallo train station in the direction of La Spezia, where we intended to leave our suitcases. Upon arrival, we discovered that there is no left luggage at the La Spezia train station, so we had to use a luggage storage service called Nannybag, which allowed us to leave our backpacks in a nearby store and pick them up when we returned in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we had already lost a considerable amount of time, on this occasion we traveled by train to Manarola, where we enjoyed visiting the town, and getting to know its alleys, and then we left for Riomaggiore also on foot, as the day before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blue path that currently connects Corniglia with Manarola is closed, so if you wanted to go on foot between the two towns you would have to opt for the long route of almost three hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding Manarola, the only thing we can say is that you cannot miss it, it is a beautiful town, and the visit is worth it, since its picturesque houses with colorful facades, and the crystal clear waters that bathe its land, will give you the welcome<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Riomaggiore<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After Manarola, we ventured to Riomaggiore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our initial intention, when planning the trip, was to travel the famous Via del Amore path. Unfortunately, we couldn't do it as it was also closed (currently still closed, expected to open in May 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took a longer path, which is the one that goes from Manarola to Riomaggiore, via Beccara, and which seemed the most difficult of all, since at some points along the way we had to help ourselves climb with our hands. Again, good physical condition is required to complete this path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took us about an hour, and after a long descent with many steps, we reached our destination. Of course, we warn you that the path leaves you in the lower part of Riomaggiore, and if you want to get to know it and visit its famous castle, you will have to climb many steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town, although small, has a lot of charm and has a memory museum, a small temple that is recommended to visit, and a small beach ideal for hot summer days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our case, as we had gotten up early and arrived early in Riomaggiore, we decided to say goodbye to these beautiful places, and head towards La Spezia to eat. Of course, next to the train station we found a curious Cinque Terre souvenir shop, where we bought several postcards, and a little book with typical recipes from the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. La Spezia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

And after our hard morning, and tired from the long walks, we arrived at our final destination of the day, picked up our suitcases from our personal storage room, and headed to the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, we wandered around there, and we were able to visit the Castello San Giorgio, the highest point in the city (although currently there is an elevator that takes you there easily), its fruit market, and the beautiful public gardens that took us to port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recommend you walk aimlessly, enter its shops, and enjoy its essence, since La Spezia is a very particular city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
