CHRISTMAS 2020: 9 PLANS FOR A DIFFERENT CHRISTMAS

The celebration of the traditional Christmas holidays will be marked this year by all the restrictions with which each Autonomous Community tries to stop the advance of the pandemic. We know that most of you will spend this Christmas 2020 in a very different way, but that doesn't mean we wanted to stop suggesting some perfect plans for these dates, and located in different parts of the Community, so that you don't miss the magic of these holidays. .

1. Christmas carols in swing at the Ramos Carrión Theater, Zamora (Christmas 2020)

For those of you who are in Zamora, you cannot miss this original Christmas carol concert. A Christmas classic for the whole family, which is reinvented by adding a touch of jazz to the traditional melodies that usually sound uninterrupted throughout the month of December.

This fun concert will take place on Friday, December 11 at the Ramos Carrión Theater in Zamora, complying with all security measures against covid. Tickets are priced at fifteen euros, and the estimated duration of the show is seventy minutes.

2. Napolitano Nativity Scene in the National Museum of Sculpture, Valladolid

Those of you who spend these holidays in Valladolid cannot miss visiting the Neapolitan Nativity Scene at the National Sculpture Museum. This Christmas classic returns for another year. Its more than six hundred figures, richly decorated, are exhibited in the beautiful Palace of Villena. 

This beautiful Nativity scene has figures dating from the 18th century, and they tell the traditional story of the birth of Jesus through its peculiar arrangement.

3. Inverted Nativity Scene in La Mata de la Bérbula, León

Despite the exceptional idea of the year, the small town of Mata de la Bérbula did not want to miss the opportunity to show its Inverted Nativity Scene.

For the second consecutive year, the La Bérbula bar has started the Christmas festivities with the lighting of the decorations, and a spectacular Nativity scene, unique in the entire province, placed upside down.

On this occasion, and ensuring safety, they have decided to place their festive decorations outside the premises.

4. Snowshoe route in Béjar, Salamanca

If your Christmas takes place in Béjar, you cannot miss the opportunity to enjoy an adventure in the snow, enjoying a unique winter landscape, which will allow us to enjoy the mountains from a different perspective.

The routes, which will take place between December 11 and January 4, have an expert guide, and with all anti-covid security measures. 5. Handmade nativity scene in the main square of Soria

Soria inaugurates this year a new Bethlehem portal, with figures carved by the artist José Llorente, whom we already mentioned in a previous article for being the “father” of the legendary carvings that shape the Path of Leonese Mythology, in Carande .

Well, on this occasion, José Llorente has used his mastery to create not only the main protagonists of the Portal of Bethlehem, but he has also included curious carvings, among which we find a pair of deer that look at us defiantly, a family of friendly wild boars or a curious squirrel, which does not miss a detail of the Christmas picture.

Furthermore, to make the visit a safe experience, the Soriano City Council has established a one-way route that prevents crowds. 

6. Attend a 2020 Christmas concert in Ávila

The Ávila Congress and Exhibition Center will host an emotional Christmas concert this year, perfect for lovers of classical music.

The concert will be held on December 30, and will be performed by the experienced Ávila Symphony Orchestra. Tickets, which cost twelve euros, can be purchased online or at the box office.

7. A walk through the Fantastic Forest, Palencia

The Huerta de Guadián will be dressed in fantasy this year to fill us with the Christmas spirit. This Christmas activity, incorporated this year into Palencia's Christmas program, will allow us to take a walk outdoors, while we discover the many hidden surprises to the delight of the whole family.

The activity will begin at nightfall, between December 18th and January 4th of the new year.

8. Walk the illuminated streets of Burgos

If you are going to spend Christmas 2020 in Burgos, we recommend that you enjoy its colorful lighting. From the colossal tree that adorns its main square, to the Forum where the Christmas decorations are flooded with the colors of the city.

9. Visit the lights of el Caballar, Segovia (Christmas 2020)

The Segovian town of Caballar is a perfect example of the Christmas spirit, and those of you who have the privilege of walking through its streets will realize the effort made by its neighbors, who every year agree to decorate the facades of their houses with different light motifs. You can find the classic lights that cascade down the balconies, luminous trees, or even friendly reindeer.
