1. Tower of Hercules, La Coruña

We have decided to start this article with the Tower of Hercules, and we believe it deserves recognition, since this beautiful tower from the 1st century AD has been lighting the way for ships for longer than any other lighthouse in the world. The lighthouse, of Roman origin, is located in a spectacular location and has been a World Heritage Site since 2009.

General admission to visit the Tower of Hercules is three euros, or free, if the visit takes place on a Monday, and allows access to the Tower of Hercules and the impressive sculpture park nearby.

2. Cabo de Gata Lighthouse, Almería

This lighthouse has also earned its place on this list in its own right. Although the current lighthouse is not particularly striking, its location is, as it is located on a fifty-meter cliff, and the views we get from its viewpoint allow us to contemplate the spectacular Mermaid Reef, a place full of legends and charm.

Access to Cabo de Gata is free, and is by road, although on holidays, especially in summer, the road can be saturated.

3. Nariga Point Lighthouse, La Coruña

If before we took you to the oldest lighthouse in the world, now we take you to the most modern in Galicia. The hidden Punta Nariga lighthouse is a perfect place for nature lovers, because around the lighthouse, you will find multiple rock formations with the most extravagant and varied shapes.

The lighthouse, which was built in 1995, is crowned by a striking bronze sculpture that you cannot miss if you visit this unique and magical place.

4. Morro Jable Lighthouse, Fuerteventura

And after impossible cliffs, and dreamlike views… we move to an absolutely different place. This Canarian lighthouse is extraordinarily simple, and its charm lies in the environment that surrounds it.

Following the same path that gives access to the Morro Jable lighthouse, we end up at Matorral beach. An immense expanse of fine sand, and dreamlike waters, walking through is a pleasure.

5. Formentor Lighthouse, Mallorca

The Formentor lighthouse is located in the extreme north of Mallorca, and is a must-see. The ascent to the lighthouse is carried out along a winding road (not suitable for squeamish people), and the beauty that you will discover in each curve will make you continue ascending.

7. Horse Lighthouse, Cantabria

This Santoña lighthouse is one of the most difficult to access, as its strategic location makes it almost inaccessible. On good weather days, access is possible by boat; On the other hand, when it is not possible to access it by sea, it is necessary to climb the seven hundred and sixty-three steps that lead to the lighthouse. Of course, once at the foot of the lighthouse, the view you will get from there will be wonderful, and you will not regret having gone up.

8. Lighthouse of the Higher Technical School of Naval Engineers, Madrid

This lighthouse is the strangest on this list, we know, but we think it is worth a visit. Its beautiful white tower stands proud in the middle of the Capital, and it is possible to see it from very close up. It is the lighthouse of the Naval Engineering University of Madrid, and its light illuminates the surroundings when the sun goes down. We know that you won't find a rough sea here, but it is beautiful enough to be worth a visit.
