10 CHRISTMAS PLANS IN CASTILLA Y LEÓN

In it we propose that you let yourself be seduced by the magic of Castilla y León during the Christmas holidays. 10 plans for all audiences, that will make you experience the magic of Christmas.

1. Getting lost among the crowded stalls of a Christmas market

It is one of the most Christmassy experiences that exist. From mid-December you will be able to leave the house with your scarf tightly wrapped around you and walk through the streets of León letting yourself be seduced by the smells of Christmas, or get excited about colorful decorations sold in neighboring Salamanca, do last minute shopping in Aranda de Duero, even ending the afternoon with some roasted chestnuts while we watch Santa Claus collecting his mail in Valladolid.

2. Walk through the snow

Sometimes we are too lazy to go out in winter, however, it is worth putting on waterproof boots, getting into the car in search of adventure and leaving behind the white edges of the road, especially because there are destinations that, under the influence of the Snow acquires a special charm, and if that doesn't seem possible to you, you just have to visit Las Médulas, Santo Domingo de Silos or the Babia Valley to see it.

3. Bird watching

We suggest you delight yourself with the flapping of hundreds of birds. Do you want to? If so, you can visit, for example, Las Lagunas de Villafáfila, where during the coldest months of the year you can see some species that are not easy to see during the rest of the year, such as the white-faced barnacles. But don't worry, to enjoy this visit you don't need to be an expert in birds, just a lover of the natural world.

4. Husky sleigh ride

It is now possible in Castilla y León! Yes, we may feel transported to distant Lapland, but these husky sleigh rides really happen very close to us. In the beautiful Leonese mountain we can now enjoy this unique experience.

5. Nativity Scene Route

A Christmas classic that can be improved? Of course, including in our tradition a visit to the living Nativity Scene of Cabezón de Pisuerga. This small Valladolid town has been working hard for more than thirty years to make its Living Nativity Scene continue to grow, and already has its own theme park, and more than 10,000 annual visitors. But hurry, the dates are limited and tickets sell out very quickly.

6. Santa Claus Parade

It is less traditional than the Three Kings Parade, but just as exciting. Shortly before Christmas Eve the streets of our Community are filled with color and excitement thanks to Santa Claus and his more than three hundred helpers who leave the little ones (and those who are already so little) with a smile.

7. Walk the streets of the most picturesque towns at sunset

Walking the streets of Puebla de Sanabria, Caleruega or La Alberca while twilight overcomes the day is an indescribable experience. The echo of your own footsteps, the silence that takes over you, and finally the lights of its lanterns creating eternal shadows stimulate anyone's imagination.

8. Go see a show at the theater

After so many outdoor plans, you may want to take refuge in a warm place. In that case, we recommend that you succumb to the various shows offered on these dates in the main theaters.

And when you leave, don't go directly home, take the opportunity to carry out the next point...

9. Night walk to see the lighting

Spend a few minutes walking with your eyes focused on the heights. Look at how some alleys change under the influence of those small works of art created with a handful of light bulbs.

10. Rural weekend with friends, fondue and movies

December is an emotional month. We like to meet with those we love most, and the truth is that this could be the perfect plan.

Lose a weekend in the Sierra de Gredos, Covarrubias or in the Castle of Burguillo to meet up with all those friends who you don't see as much as you would like. The only thing that can make this plan more attractive is a cheese fondue and a lots of movies.
