We leave you a very special article. Our collaboration in the special Christmas issue of the ZA-49 newspaper.
Oh, White Christmas! You are already here, so long awaited and fleeting, that we want to live every minute as if it were the only one. And so that we can fulfill this purpose, we offer you a plan for each day. All in the province of Zamora, from December 22 to 31. Ten unique plans, and one as a gift for those of you who read to the end.
December 22th
A trip throughout the province of Zamora without leaving the Plaza de Viriato. That is what the winter masquerade exhibition with Playmobil located at the MECYL offers us. With free entry and until January 12. An exhibition that is both traditional and groundbreaking, a promising combination, don't you think?
December 23th
We invite you to join a film session at noon. And if that were not enough, it is familiar and supportive. That is to say, it has all the ingredients to make us display our Christmas spirit. Distributed in several morning sessions, with a cost of one euro (for the pediatric wing of Virgen de la Concha). In these sessions, films are projected that will make young and old smile.
Dec. 24
Sometimes we don't need to leave home to take a long trip. Today we propose a day at home preparing gingerbread. In most European countries they cannot conceive Christmas without it (if anyone needs the recipe, you just have to contact us and we can provide it to you), that's why we challenge you to get all together in the kitchen, ready to get your hands dirty. hands, and to end the day with a happy heart and a tray that you can serve at Christmas Eve dinner.
December 25th
After an exciting morning tearing the wrapping of the gifts that Santa Claus has left us under the tree (don't forget to leave him one of those gingerbread buns), there is nothing better than a short route through Zamora lands in search of the most beautiful Nativity scene in Christmas. I would recommend starting with a classic, like the Bethlehem of the Church of the Incarnation; continue through the Cathedral, which impresses us from its beginning, due to the incomparable setting in which it is located; and finish by adding a new one, the Tábara Nativity Scene, one of the most beautiful in the province.
December 26
Grab your coats, and get ready for a surprise, because we're going to Sanzoles del Vino to meet the mischievous zangarrón. An unmistakable character who walks the streets of the town wearing daring clothing, a mask and a plume of colored ribbons. Your mission? Pursue the townspeople to receive their bonus. You better have saved some coins…
December 27
After so many days full of emotion, you will need a little peace. Nothing better than looking for it in the Tejedelo forest, which you can find in Requejo de Sanabria. There you will find a wonderful yew forest, the oldest tree in the world according to legends. And if you are respectful of the forest and its inhabitants, if you walk in silence, you will be rewarded by the magical melody of the Yew Trees, which shake, and without the need for words, whisper to us the History of which their elderly bodies have witnessed. .
December 28th
A visit to Puebla de Sanabria this year is a must. Not only because it is included in the list of Beautiful Towns in Spain, but also because it is the brand new winner of the Ferrero Rocher “Light up your town” contest. Imagine how the characters in fairy tales must feel, because that will be your feeling when you contemplate that beautiful castle, or while you ascend its eternal stairs, those that promise to take us to heaven and finally leave us at the foot of its medieval streets. And, from December 15, Puebla will be the most Christmassy place in Spain, which is why it cannot be missing from our list of essentials.
December 29
Today's plan is musical and very Christmassy. This is the concert “The musical history of MEME, the prehistoric snail.” The friendly Meme will help us travel, in just fifty minutes, all the way from prehistory to the present day, teaching us the history of music. Would you like to accompany him on his trip? If the answer is yes, you can purchase tickets, which cost €6, at the Jazz Cave.
December 30
If you are one of those who think that the New Year officially begins when the first chords of The Blue Danube are heard, you are in luck this year. A little piece of Vienna, and the excitement of January 1, comes to Zamora, and more specifically to the Ramos Carrión theater, where a New Year's Concert will be held on December 30.
December 31
Last day of the year, a day to recap good and bad moments, to toast the resolutions to (un)fulfill during the following year, but above all a perfect day to participate in the Zamora San Silvestre. Whether wearing a bib, or cheering on the brave people who put on their sports shoes and reach the finish line breathless. The important thing is to give color to the streets on this last afternoon that the year gives us.
And for those of you who have come this far, a surprise. If you are as eager as we are for Christmas to arrive, you can go ahead. The next Sunday December 16, in the Church of Santa María de la Horta, at 6:00 p.m., a Christmas carol concert will take place that will make us immerse ourselves in the most magical time of the year.
