TRIP TO THE CENTER OF SPRING

We only need to take a look around us to realize that spring is beginning to make its way through the rigors of winter. Once again the almond trees are pioneers, and they are dedicated to coloring our fields in these days when freezing mornings still mix with warm after-dinner meals.

If you also want to welcome the season with the most contrasts of the year, and contemplate the first explosion of color of the season, we leave you a proposal for you to visit the main places populated with almond trees:

1. Quinta de los Molinos (Madrid)

This urban oasis that hides behind rough brick walls, and that coexists with non-stop traffic and hurried pedestrians, is a cult of nature in the middle of Madrid.

It reaches its greatest degree of splendor during the flowering of the almond tree. During these days, entering the door means immersing yourself in a parallel world, where time moves more slowly, and the intense fragrance that emanates from the hundreds of almond trees that live in the park floods our senses.

2. Loarre (Huesca)

Our second proposal takes us to a small town lost in the mountains that bears his name. A unique location in which we will find an imposing Romanesque castle, and at its feet, as if they wanted to protect it from the passage of time, we find a beautiful field of almond trees.

Loarre, therefore, becomes a getaway with multiple possibilities, offering images that are very difficult to find anywhere else.

3. Sierra de Tramuntana (Mallorca)

Traveling the roads of the Mallorcan Sierra de la Tramuntana is a delight at any time of the year, but if we also add more than seven million almond trees conspiring to color the island, the result is a spectacle for the eyes.

4. Valverde de Leganés (Badajoz)

Our next stop is in the land of conquerors, in neighboring Extremadura, where we will have to travel to Valverde de Leganés to admire the Almendro Real.

An old man of more than three hundred years, which during the winter camouflages itself among the olive trees that surround it, to surprise each spring when it dazzles neighbors and visitors with its numerous flowers.

Its splendor is such that it is proposed to be “Tree of Spain 2019”, a contest that annually chooses the most unique tree in Spain.

5. Santiago del Teide /La Palma

This route also stops at the Fortunate Islands. If you already like Tenerife in summer, you can't miss the show it offers on these dates.

Starting from the municipality of Santiago del Teide, famous for the amazing cliffs that we can find there, you can follow different paths, with different levels of difficulty depending on the needs of each group, and travel along the foot of the mountain observing this unique landscape that remains. these days mottled with a splendid pink color.

6. La Fregeneda (Salamanca)

In this town in Salamanca, the almond tree festival has been a tradition since the sixties.

Various activities for all audiences where the important thing is to have fun, and what seems most relevant to us, they take advantage of this event to carry out a twinning between Spain and Portugal, sharing some activities.

7. The Alpujarras (Granada)

Granadans say that the Alpujarras must be visited in all four seasons to realize that it is a place of extraordinary beauty at any time. Maybe they are right, although we have not been able to verify it yet.

What is certain is that if you go during these dates you will find a spectacular landscape, with mountains painted white and pink that will invite you to disconnect from the real world.

8. Fermoselle (Zamora)

Our next stop is in the heart of Arribes del Duero, in the Zamora town of Fermoselle, where nature provides an incomparable setting for the advanced almond trees.

If we are also lucky enough to be part of the activities organized by La Casa del Parque de Fermoselle, the walk among almond trees becomes an unforgettable activity for the whole family.

9. Guaro (Malaga)

On the banks of the Sierra de las Nieves we find this Andalusian town with houses with spectacularly white facades, where the Almond Tree festival is also celebrated every year.

Although we arrived late (the event is at the end of January), we wrote it down for the future, and we enjoyed the natural spectacle and the tranquility that is breathed in these green fields.

10. Vila Nova de Foz Côa (Portugal)

In the Portuguese town of Vila Nova de Foz Coa they organize an entire festival to celebrate the flowering of almond trees. From February 22 to March 3 you can enjoy multiple activities that encourage us to celebrate the arrival of spring in Portuguese lands.

11. Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam)

And if you don't arrive in time to see them in nature, or you simply feel like visiting Amsterdam, don't hesitate, stop to contemplate Almond Blossom by Vincent Van Gogh, which blooms between the walls of the Van Gogh Museum in the Dutch capital, and preserves its petals during the four seasons.
